Going for Broke
Off season is in full swing and the icehouse is finally open in Calgary - a true sign of summer!
I've been settling in enjoying some time off the ice, working, training and working on projects around my house.
I was inspired on Saturday to write, finally. It's been a while. Not much to update except that I'm grinding it out! During a sprint session of pouring rain, on an empty track, I had an epiphany, a moment of appreciation.
It's taken me a while to get to the point of loving training, and actually feeling confident on a running track - where we practice for my 30m sprint for my off ice testing.
I wanted to find myself there. Only there. No where else.
I think that is pretty special.
A year ago I would've complained, two years ago I wouldn't have shown up. This year, I was doing it with a smile on my face.
To see that change myself is remarkable, but to know I'm all in for this journey is priceless. It was a moment to stop and smell the rain, and look how far I've come, and how far I have left to go.
The time is counting down to the 17/18 season and I couldn't be more excited what lessons I'm going to learn this year.
Time to go for broke, give it my all. Anything less would just be a waste.
